Other Suggestions for Comfort
SyntheticTop: Soggy cotton shirts get uncomfortable under a life jacket and will not screen your skin from the sun's potentially harmful rays. Synthetic material tops are highly recommended. NYKC sells upper body wear designed specifically for paddle sports, but any smooth synthetic garment will suffice. Surfing rash-guards are terrific!
Synthetic pants, shorts or a swimsuit: Of any kind are also strongly suggested.
Sun hat: Significant exposure to sunshine can occur on the water. A full brimmed hat or baseball cap will offer welcome protection.
Retainers for eye glasses If you wear glasses, its a good idea to secure them with products like Croakies or Chums, which we sell at the store.
A towel is also recommended.
Shoes are advised. For kayaking water or paddling shoes are strongly suggested. For SUP paddling during warmer times of year flip flops or sandals to wear to and from the dock are a good idea. During colder weather, paddling or surf footwear for both on and off the board is recommended.
New York Kayak Company has separate changing rooms for men and women. We also have small lockers for day use. Please bring a lock.
All classes and trips are $50 per hour. Save 20% when you purchase 10 hours or more.
